Transformer iron core

The main functions of transformer iron core are as follows:

 

  1. Composition of magnetic circuit: Transformers work based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The iron core serves as a magnetic material, providing a closed path for magnetic flux, allowing the magnetic flux generated by the primary winding of the transformer to be effectively transmitted through the iron core to the secondary winding, thereby achieving efficient transmission of electrical energy. Due to the much higher magnetic permeability of the iron core compared to surrounding media such as air, the majority of the magnetic flux can be confined within the iron core, reducing leakage and improving electromagnetic conversion efficiency.


2. Support for windings: The iron core provides mechanical support for the windings of the transformer, allowing them to be fixed in the correct position, maintaining relative spacing and insulation performance. This can ensure that the windings of the transformer will not experience displacement, deformation, or short circuit faults due to electromagnetic forces, mechanical vibrations, and other factors during operation, ensuring the safe and stable operation of the transformer.
