Transformer oil level indicator

Abnormal transformer oil level gauge may be caused by the following reasons:

Oil temperature variation

-When the load of the transformer increases or the heat dissipation is poor, the oil temperature rises, the oil volume expands, and the oil level will rise; On the contrary, as the oil temperature decreases, the oil level also decreases. If the oil temperature changes too quickly or abnormally, it may cause the oil level gauge to display abnormally.

oil leakage

-Aging or damage to the seals of transformers, or cracks in components such as oil tanks and radiators, can lead to oil leakage. Oil leakage will reduce the amount of oil in the tank, and the oil level gauge will display a decrease in oil level.

Oil level gauge malfunction

-The mechanical components of the oil level gauge itself are damaged, stuck, or the pointer is loose or deformed, which can cause the oil level gauge to fail to accurately display the oil level and produce false oil level indications.

-The rupture and deformation of the float of the oil level gauge can cause a change in the buoyancy it receives in the oil, and also result in abnormal display of the oil level gauge.

Respiratory system malfunction

-The blockage of the transformer's respirator will cause an imbalance between the pressure inside the oil tank and the external atmospheric pressure. When the pressure inside the fuel tank decreases, the oil level will be sucked up; When the pressure rises, the oil level will be lowered.

-The rupture of the capsule in the capsule type oil storage tank will allow the oil to directly communicate with the atmosphere, resulting in abnormal display of the oil level gauge.

Internal fault of transformer

-Internal faults such as short circuits and discharges in transformers can generate a large amount of heat and gas, causing the oil temperature to rise sharply and the oil level to rise accordingly.

-Internal faults may lead to deterioration of oil quality, changes in oil density, volume, and other characteristics, which in turn can affect the normal display of the oil level gauge.
