Transformer bushing function

The transformer bushing is an indispensable component of the transformer, mainly playing multiple roles such as protection, insulation, and support, which is crucial for the safe and stable operation of the transformer. The following is a detailed explanation of its specific functions:
1. Insulation Protection
This is one of the core functions of the transformer bushing. The lead-out wires of the transformer (such as the conductive parts of high-voltage and low-voltage bushings) need to be insulated from the transformer shell and other grounded components. The bushing is made of materials with excellent insulation performance (such as ceramics, silicone rubber, epoxy resin, etc.), which can effectively prevent current leakage and avoid short-circuit accidents.
For example, the high-voltage bushing can isolate the high-voltage lead from the transformer oil tank, preventing high-voltage electricity from breaking down the air or other components and causing discharge.
2. Mechanical Support
The bushing provides stable mechanical support for components such as the transformer's conductive rod and lead wires, ensuring that these components will not be displaced or deformed due to vibration, external forces, etc. during transportation, installation, and operation, thus guaranteeing the reliability of electrical connections.
Especially in outdoor transformers, the bushing needs to bear the weight of the lead wires and external loads such as wind force to maintain the stability of the structure.
3. Environmental Protection
The bushing can isolate key components such as insulating oil and windings inside the transformer from the external environment, preventing dust, moisture, rain and snow, corrosive gases, etc. from entering the transformer, and avoiding the internal insulating materials from getting damp, aging or being corroded.
