In transformer manufacturing, epoxy resin is a core insulation and packaging material, mainly used for insulation protection, structural reinforcement, and environmental resistance in three dimensions, as follows:

1.Electrical insulation

This is the core function of epoxy resin. It has high dielectric strength and high insulation resistance, which can effectively isolate live parts such as windings, iron cores, and leads of transformers, prevent short circuits, leakage, or partial discharge, and ensure stable operation of equipment at rated voltage.

Especially suitable for dry-type transformers (such as epoxy resin cast dry-type transformers), it can replace traditional oil immersed insulation media and improve the safety performance of equipment.

2.Structural encapsulation and reinforcement

Epoxy resin has excellent adhesion and curing formability. After casting, it can tightly wrap transformer windings, iron cores and other components, forming a sturdy overall structure.

This type of packaging can enhance the mechanical strength of components, resist vibrations and impacts during transportation and installation, while preventing winding deformation and extending the service life of transformers.

3.Environmental protection

The cured epoxy resin is a dense polymer material with good moisture, dust, and corrosion resistance. It can isolate external moisture, dust, acid and alkali gases from corrosion, protect internal metal components and insulation materials from damage.

Therefore, transformers encapsulated with epoxy resin can adapt to harsh working conditions such as humidity and dust, and have a wider range of applications.

4.Heat dissipation assistance

The thermal conductivity of epoxy resin is superior to traditional insulation materials such as cardboard, which can help the heat generated by the winding to be conducted to the shell faster, assist in transformer heat dissipation, and avoid insulation aging caused by local overheating.
