The transformer breather

The transformer breather, also known as a moisture absorber, is an important protective component of oil-immersed transformers, installed at the connection between the conservator tank and the atmosphere. It contains silica gel desiccant, which absorbs moisture and impurities from the air entering the conservator tank, preventing transformer oil from dampening and deteriorating, and ensuring stable insulation performance. Dry silica gel is blue; it turns pink when damp and needs to be replaced or regenerated by drying in a timely manner.
