In the ordinary work process, the word we hear the most about the motor core is "silicon steel sheet". In order to increase the permeability of the steel
punch, we add a small amount of "silicon". With the increase of silicon content, the hysteresis expansion coefficient of silicon steel decreases, the iron loss
decreases, and the permeability increases. When the silicon content reaches 6.5%, the magnetic permeability of the silicon steel reaches the maximum,
the magnetostriction approaches zero, and it has excellent magnetic properties. However, when the silicon content exceeds 3.5%, the steel will become
hard and brittle, so that it cannot be rolled into thin steel plates, which is one of the reasons why silicon steel sheets are difficult to make thin. In addition
to silicon, cobalt, the so-called cobalt steel sheet, can also be added.
Earlier, we talked about the fact that the iron loss of the core with high silicon content is smaller. The iron loss of the motor includes the basic iron loss
caused by the change of the main magnetic field in the core, the additional (or spurious) loss in the core at no load, and the loss in the core due to the
leakage magnetic field generated by the operating current of the stator or rotor and the harmonic magnetic field in the core. The latter two items are
generally classified as spurious consumption, which is difficult to accurately quantify.
